This is to announce that Casey won our first club only competition for
2007 with his brown ale. He had the highest average of 35. For his
efforts he took home a sack of grain. I'm not sure which type though.
This is also to announce that the competition did not go as smoothly as
I had intended, due mainly to the amount of entrants. Basically I had
not figured on such a big turnout. Some had even brought two entries.
In any event, some expressed that everyone should be limited to one
entry ... some said that we should not discourage brewing and let
everyone brew as many as they would like. That is for the club to decide.
Hopefully next time we will have enough forms, once again, due to the
amount of entries we had. All apologies to the forgotten entry. In the
future, we will have to have a system in place that makes sure, no
entries are overlooked.
I'll be the first to admit that it was a fiasco and took a long time. I
think that the next time we do this, we may have to start the meeting a
bit earlier and/or start without delaying for food etc. Once again, the
club will have to decide on this.
The next brew-to style is Pale Ale. I have lost the email that I sent
around announcing all the styles by quarter, so if anyone has that
please send me a copy. But we will be talking about the next style at
the April meeting. So, for all of you hop heads, now is the time to get
out your favorite IPA or APA recipe and fine tune it.
Due to the feedback at the meeting, I am debating wether I will continue
in the function of running these contests. So, if you feel that you
would like to take over, please send an email to the president.
cheers.
