Then . . . force them to learn.
 
Design a table which sequentially has all the components of beer from the raw ingredients (malt, hops -- which they must smell and taste) to wort (which they must smell and taste) to fermentation (which they must observe) to bottling (which they must observe).
 
Make them taste and smell and observe something at each step.
 
Beers will be at the end.
 
No skipping to the end --- no exceptions.
 
Make the trip long and arduous . . . to weed out the morons who just want to get drunk . . . while still educating those that wish to learn.

I agree completely...I've been a WYES member since my return to NO in 1990 but my one "Beerfest" showed me a lot of old beer which some exhibitors advised was stuff they were just geting rid of and none of the distributors could tell me anything about the beers.It is good for beer drinkers rather than beer students.
