Getting RealAudio

In order to listen to the sound files at this web site, you'll need the free Real Audio 3.0 plugin for your web browser, if you don't already have it. If you prefer, you may also use the RealPlayer plugin. Both of these products are free. The RealAudio Player allows you to play audio files in real time, with little or no waiting over standard 28.8k modem connections or better. The RealPlayer product also includes the ability to play video files (this site does not include any video content).

Note that Progressive Networks no longer offers RealAudio for download. Instead, they now offer the more powerful RealPlayer, although this site only requires RealAudio 3.0. If you already have it, you need not download the RealPlayer. If you do not have RealAudio, or if you have a version older than 3.0, you should download the RealPlayer plugin. Playing the Files

At any song page, you may press one of the following buttons to hear audio:

Play 28.8 Modem users should use this button to hear streaming (real-time) audio. Quality is not as high as the other options, but there is little to no waiting for audio to be delivered.
Play 28.8 ISDN users should use this button to hear streaming (real-time) audio. Sound quality is significantly better than the 28.8k file, but you really need ISDN to hear the audio properly. Note: if you don't know what ISDN is, you probably aren't an ISDN user.
Non-Streaming All users can use this button to hear the higher quality ISDN sound files, even modem users. The catch is that your browser will download the entire file to your machine first, prior to playing it, so you'll have to wait to hear the song. The files range in size from about 450k to 1.2 meg, so this can take a while on a slow link.

Note that you can also save the file to your local disk for later listening by right-clicking on this button, and selecting Save Link As... from the popup menu. (This works for Netscape users, at least. I assume the other browsers work in a similiar fashion.)
