Anyone have a bird at home. I have another 1,000 score sheets - could use
them for the liner I guess.

Subject: [MKOB] Meeting is Thursday 15th
To my Knowledge, there is NOT a Belgian competition this meeting.
If you would read the email, it was a question about a competition this
month, which was scheduled to be a Barley Wine, or similar style. I was
requesting for a count on who had brewed for this style and would be
bringing it. As I got only one reply, either no one is reading the emails or
you don't have one.
Ron, just replied he had a belgian and someone decided that was a style we
where judging. Ron bring your Belgian I'm sure it will be a fine beer.
So at this time I have decided to cancel the competition. It will be up to
the next President to have more, we just have to much going on to try
another this year. Sorry if you brewed for this, please bring it and we will
sample it. Give our opinion and have a good time.
If someone has a better way to conduct a competition that will not take more
that two hours, lets here it. As the first one we did took well over two
hours, and we used the score sheets and comments in the way it is layed out.
We had members leave in the middle which threw the scores off on that one
too, apparently they felt it took to long. I discussed it with several other
members and came up with the format we used, if you don't like it I'm sorry
we do the best we can in the time we have. It seems to have worked everyone
who wanted to participated. Sorry, if you don't like the way we judged, but
the main purpose of it was to get people involved in brewing, instead of
just coming to a meeting and drinking. Discuss styles of beer instead of
just bringing in as much as you could and passing it out as fast as
possible. Sorry, if I hurt some feelings but MKOB is a HOME BREWING club not
a drinking club, we could use some more training on how to be a judge.
Anyone want to step up an d teach more of us how to judge?
Don't forget, we have elections this month, I sent out the list of
nominations a couple weeks ago. I will also have a list, hopefully, for
everyone to look at Thursday night. We can take new nominations before
voting begins. Everyone try to bring a pen or pencil as we might not have
enough to go around.
We will also be trying to get the Christmas party together, so think about
what you can bring.
Jim Cooper
President for Now of MKOB
